Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned swimmer, we have a class that will fit your needs. Classes range in skill levels and follow the guidelines and procedures set by the American Red Cross.

Ratio for semi-private lessons is 2 participants to 1 instructor. This encourages faster learning because the instructor is able to focus on individual needs.

Days: Monday – Friday
Fee: $80
Min/Max:  2/4

  • 45 minutes of instruction
  • 15 minutes of free swim (5:45 p.m. for both the 5:00 and 6:00 p.m. classes)
  • FREE swimming on Saturdays at either pool location
  • 2 FREE Edge Ice Center Passes
  • In case of rain, make-up lessons are held the following week.

Beginners Semi-Private Levels 1-3 

For those swimmers who want to increase his/her comfort in the water with more individual attention. Water Level Skills 1-3 are taught based on the swimmer’s individual needs

Advanced Semi-Private Levels 4-6

For those swimmers who are ready to perfect his/her water skills at a faster rate. Water Level Skills 4-6 are taught based on the swimmer’s individual needs.

BEGINNER SEMI-PRIVATE LEVELS 1-3

LEVEL 1 – INTRODUCTION TO WATER SKILLS

For the non-swimmer who wants to increase his/her comfort and learn basic water skills listed below:

  • Bobbing and going under water
  • Supported front and back floating
  • Supported rolling over from front to back and back to front
  • Supported gliding and flutter kicks
  • Supported front crawl and jumping in the water

LEVEL 2 – FUNDAMENTAL AQUATICS SKILLS

Swimmers should already be able to float on front and back and put head under water. Swimmers will work on:

  • Independent front and back floating
  • Independent rolling over from front to back and back to front
  • Independent front and back glides
  • Front crawl arms and kicks
  • Back crawl arms and kicks
  • Retrieving under water objects
  • Jumping into water over his/her head

LEVEL 3 – STROKE DEVELOPMENT

Swimmers should already be comfortable swimming front stroke and swimming on their back. Swimmers will work on:

  • Gliding
  • Freestyle with side breathing
  • Backstroke
  • Breaststroke
  • Dolphin kicks
  • Retrieving objects in deeper water
  • Treading water
  • Jumping into deep water and compact dives

ADVANCED SEMI-PRIVATE LEVELS 4-6

LEVEL 4 – STROKE IMPROVEMENT

Swimmers should already be able to swim front and back crawl 25 yards. Swimmers will work on:

  • Rotary breathing
  • Freestyle
  • Elementary backstroke
  • Backstroke
  • Scissors kick
  • Sidestroke
  • Whip kick
  • Breaststroke
  • Intro to turning at wall
  • Treading water with scissors kicks

LEVEL 5 – STROKE REFINEMENT

Swimmers should already be able to swim freestyle, breaststroke and backstroke 25 yards, scissors kick, whip kick and treading water. Swimmers will work on:

  • Alternate breathing
  • Stride jump

Refinement of:

  • Freestyle
  • Backstroke
  • Elementary backstroke
  • Sidestroke
  • Breaststroke
  • Dolphin kick
  • Butterfly
  • Open turn on front and back
  • Treading water

LEVEL 6 – SWIMMING & SKILL PROFICIENCY
Swimmer should already be able to swim front and back crawl 50 yards, elementary backstroke, breaststroke 25 yards, butterfly 25 yards, sidestroke 10 yards and tread water for 3 minutes. Swimmers will work on:

  • Improve all six strokes
  • Front and back crawl flip turn
  • Breaststroke turn
  • Breaststroke speed turn and pullout
  • Butterfly turn
  • Sidestroke turn
  • Tread water for 5 minutes
  • Basic water rescue
