Combest Pool is part of Chautauqua Park which was acquired by the City of Owensboro in 1916 with the pool opening May 20, 1973. The Pool was named after Willis Combest, who passed in 1969 after befriending two generations of athletes in Owensboro.

This family friendly Olympic size pool ranging in depth from 3 foot to 5 foot and opens annually Memorial Day weekend. Trained certified lifeguards are on duty at all times. In addition to public swimming, swim lessons are offered throughout the season. Other programs include fitness and aquatic classes; as well as various special events. Groups and individuals may rent areas  at the pool or the entire facility for  private rentals or parties.

Combest Pool offers a full concession stand, locker rentals, inner tube rentals, lounge chairs, two slides, shaded picnic areas, bath house and changing areas. This pool is perfect for family fun on a hot summer day!

2024 Pool season is May 25 – August 4.
