City of Owensboro’s Edge Ice Center Hosts

2021 KY High School Hockey League State Tournament

The City of Owensboro’s Edge Ice Center will host the Kentucky High School Hockey League State Tournament on Saturday and Sunday, March 6 & 7. Games begin Saturday morning at 8 a.m. and conclude on Sunday with the Championship game at 1 p.m.

Owensboro’s team Rampage are two-times past champions, and the current reigning champions. Head Coach Jason Link has been training the players all season, which has seen its fair share of challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic causing several weeks of no on-ice practice and cancelled or rescheduled games. Coach Link stated, The Rampage varsity team is very excited to have the opportunity to host and play at the end of the season state tournament at our home rink.  We have the best rink with the greatest staff in the state of Kentucky. The players have been preparing all season for the state tournament both on and off the ice. We understand it is harder to defend the state title than it is to earn it and we have taken the challenge very seriously and this team is ready to leave it all on the ice.”

Complete game schedules will be available at owensborohockey.com once all seedings have been set. Due to current capacity restrictions at indoor venues, teams are limited to only two spectators per player, therefore general admittance will not be allowed. The Direct Economic Impact to the community is estimated at $149,583; Indirect is $239,332.

Competing Teams:

#1 seed Northern Kentucky Norse, #2 Owensboro Rampage, #3 Trinity Ice Rocks, Louisville Metro (seed TBD), Lexington Thoroughbreds (seed TBD), and #6 Saint Xavier Tigers

Due to this event, the Edge Ice Center will not be open for public skating on  March 5, 6 and 7.
